A speech recognition and natural language understanding system performs insertion, deletion, and replacement edits of tokens at positions with low probabilities according to both a forward and a backward statistical language model (SLM) to produce rewritten token sequences. Multiple rewrites can be produced with scores depending on the probabilities of tokens according to the SLMs. The rewritten token sequences can be parsed according to natural language grammars to produce further weighted scores. Token sequences can be rewritten iteratively using a graph-based search algorithm to find the best rewrite. Mappings of input token sequences to rewritten token sequences can be stored in a cache, and searching for a best rewrite can be bypassed by using cached rewrites when present. Analysis of various initial token sequences that produce the same new rewritten token sequence can be useful to improve natural language grammars.

A method is proposed to simulate a moving object with a changing orientation such as bending or twisting in a real-time computer graphics application. A Projective Dynamics local-global solver is adapted with discretized Cosserat object position and orientation constraints and potentials for the local and global solving steps. Rotatable rigid or deformable bodies may be simulated accordingly, such as for instance rods, with potential weights accounting for the material parameters and geometric properties of the objects, such as the radius, the mass density, the length, and/or, for elastic thin objects, the Young's modulus, thus enabling realistic simulation for different values. Furthermore, the proposed methods converge after a small number of iterations, independently from the mesh resolution, enabling fast implementation in a diversity of computer graphics simulation applications.

A invisible radio frequency (RF) leash system is provided for controlling and confining an owner's dog to a predefined distance or radius. The system comprises a radio frequency (RF) smartphone hardware interface or dongle, electronic dog collar module, and mobile device application user interface. The system RF hardware preferably operates on the 433 MHz, 2.4 GHz, or other radio frequencies. The dog owner sets the distance and stimulus modality via the mobile device application and is provided with automatic correction when the dog reaches the perimeter boundary and the dog is confined to the perimeter. The RF hardware interface or dongle is comprised of radio hardware for distance ranging, data-link, and receiving information from the dog collar module. The dog collar tracks activity and location with a GPS module and transmits RF distance ranging signals, location, and activity data to the RF dongle for display on the owner's mobile device application. The dog collar provides electric shock, vibrational, audio or other correction stimulus upon reaching the predefined distance or radius perimeter boundary and ensures that the dog remains within the perimeter.
