The backup power apparatus provides backup power to the load when the city power does not correspond to a first pre-determined condition and includes a recombination unit, a fuel cell unit, a transformation unit, and a control unit. The recombination unit recombines a methanol component to a hydrogen component. The fuel cell unit receives the hydrogen component to generate a first power. The transformation unit detects the city power and transforms the first power to generate the backup power. When the city power does not correspond to a first pre-determined condition, the control unit activates the reformer, the fuel cell unit, and the transformation unit to generate the backup power.

On the output side, the transmission is supported on the sole transverse member of the rear axle carrier, which includes two longitudinal members, and on the input side the transmission is fixed to the floor panel structure via a serial connection of two elastic supports with a mass body arranged therebetween. The transmission may be fixed to two connecting points on the floor panel structure, the connecting points lying next to each other substantially in the transverse direction. Two such serial connections of elastic supports may be provided with a common mass body with a weight ranging from 3 to 7 kilograms.

The present invention provides a device for occluding an anatomical aperture, such as an atrial septal defect (ASD) or a patent foramen ovale (PFO). The occluder includes two sides connected by a central tube. The occluder is formed from a tube, which is cut to produce struts in each side. Upon the application of force, the struts deform into loops. The loops may be of various shapes, sizes, and configurations, and, in at least some embodiments, the loops have rounded peripheries. In some embodiments, at least one of the sides includes a tissue scaffold. The occluder further includes a catch system that maintains its deployed state in vivo. When the occluder is deployed in vivo, the two sides are disposed on opposite sides of the septal tissue surrounding the aperture and the catch system is deployed so that the occluder exerts a compressive force on the septal tissue and closes the aperture.

A method for producing a strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae with introduced genes coding for xylose reductase, xylitol dehydrogenase and xylulokinase and with improved ethanol production, improved xylose conversion and reduced xylitol production is described. The method comprises culturing the cells in a repetitive batch series in a medium at a xylose concentration of about 15-25 g/l and at a temperature of about 28-32 C., and thereafter lowering the xylose concentration in at least one step at a temperature of about 28-32 C. to obtain an increased selection pressure for improved xylose fermentation,improved ethanol production and reduced xylitol production, and continuing the culturing of the cells in said repetitive batch series. Further, strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae obtained by the method according to the invention are described.
