DEVICE FOR INSPECTING AND/OR REHABILITATING PIPELINES

Pub Date: 2013-11-07

Pub Number: US20130293699

A device for inspecting and/or rehabilitating pipelines includes a camera or a tool arranged at a carrier that can be passed through the pipeline. To enable the device to pass through pipelines having bends, as used in house service connections, a first cross section of the carrier, taken in a first plane, which includes a central longitudinal axis of the carrier, an essentially straight or concave underside with outer ends. End-side sections of a top side extend upwardly in an arc-shaped and convex manner and away from the respective outer end of the underside in the direction of the opposite end thereof. The radius of curvature or radii of curvature of the end-side sections of the top side of the first cross section, equals (equal) more than 50% of the maximum distance of the underside from the top side.

POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM COMPRISING A FUEL CELL

Pub Date: 2013-11-07

Pub Number: US20130293015

A power supply system driving a load including a main power apparatus and a backup power apparatus is disclosed. The main power apparatus provides main power to the load according to city power. The backup power apparatus provides backup power to the load when the city power does not correspond to a first pre-determined condition and includes a recombination unit, a fuel cell unit, a transformation unit, and a control unit. The recombination unit recombines a methanol component to a hydrogen component. The fuel cell unit receives the hydrogen component to generate a first power. The transformation unit detects the city power and transforms the first power to generate the backup power. When the city power does not correspond to a first pre-determined condition, the control unit activates the reformer, the fuel cell unit, and the transformation unit to generate the backup power.

Support Of An Axle Transmission In The Rear Region Of A Passenger Vehicle

Pub Date: 2013-11-07

Pub Number: US20130292932

A support of an axle transmission in the rear region of a passenger vehicle on a rear axle carrier and on the floor panel structure of the vehicle body in a further connecting point with the interposition of elastic supports is provided. On the output side, the transmission is supported on the sole transverse member of the rear axle carrier, which includes two longitudinal members, and on the input side the transmission is fixed to the floor panel structure via a serial connection of two elastic supports with a mass body arranged therebetween. The transmission may be fixed to two connecting points on the floor panel structure, the connecting points lying next to each other substantially in the transverse direction. Two such serial connections of elastic supports may be provided with a common mass body with a weight ranging from 3 to 7 kilograms.

SCREEN PRINTER AND SCREEN PRINTING METHOD

Pub Date: 2013-11-07

Pub Number: US20130291742

Provided are a screen printer and a screen printing method capable of reducing poor printing by realizing smooth rolling of a paste. When a squeegee 32 is slid on a mask 5 so as to transfer a paste Ps to a substrate 2, leakage prevention members 33 are slid on the mask 5 along with the squeegee 32 so as to prevent the paste Ps on the mask 5 from leaking out of both sides of the squeegee 32. The height H0 of the paste Ps on the mask 5 is greater than the height Hm of the leakage prevention members 33 from the upper surface of the mask 5, and the paste Ps located at a position greater than the height Hm of the leakage prevention members 33 is rolled.

Drawing HTML Elements

Pub Date: 2013-11-07

Pub Number: US20130298004

In embodiments of drawing HTML elements, an HTML drawing application (108) can receive, via a drawing area interface (112), drawing-input (208) to specify a size and a location of an HTML element (210) to be created in an HTML page (202). The HTML drawing application (108) can then initiate a display of visual feedback on a drawing surface (116) that overlays the HTML page (202) in the drawing area interface (112) as the drawing-input (208) is received, and create the HTML element in the HTML page based on the size and the location specified by the drawing-input. In some embodiments, the drawing surface (116) is an HTML5 canvas element.

Tubular Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) Closure Device with Catch System

Pub Date: 2013-11-07

Pub Number: US20130296925

The present invention provides a device for occluding an anatomical aperture, such as an atrial septal defect (ASD) or a patent foramen ovale (PFO). The occluder includes two sides connected by a central tube. The occluder is formed from a tube, which is cut to produce struts in each side. Upon the application of force, the struts deform into loops. The loops may be of various shapes, sizes, and configurations, and, in at least some embodiments, the loops have rounded peripheries. In some embodiments, at least one of the sides includes a tissue scaffold. The occluder further includes a catch system that maintains its deployed state in vivo. When the occluder is deployed in vivo, the two sides are disposed on opposite sides of the septal tissue surrounding the aperture and the catch system is deployed so that the occluder exerts a compressive force on the septal tissue and closes the aperture.

SACCHAROMYCES CEREVISIAE STRAINS

Pub Date: 2013-11-07

Pub Number: US20130295620

A method for producing a strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae with introduced genes coding for xylose reductase, xylitol dehydrogenase and xylulokinase and with improved ethanol production, improved xylose conversion and reduced xylitol production is described. The method comprises culturing the cells in a repetitive batch series in a medium at a xylose concentration of about 15-25 g/l and at a temperature of about 28-32 C., and thereafter lowering the xylose concentration in at least one step at a temperature of about 28-32 C. to obtain an increased selection pressure for improved xylose fermentation, improved ethanol production and reduced xylitol production, and continuing the culturing of the cells in said repetitive batch series. Further, strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae obtained by the method according to the invention are described.

VISUAL PERCEPTION AND ACUITY DISRUPTION TECHNIQUES AND SYSTEMS

Pub Date: 2013-11-07

Pub Number: US20130293379

Exemplary security lighting routines are tailored to disrupt visual perception and/or acuity so as to significantly reduce the ability of a person or persons, who has breached security, to function within a secured space. A routine triggered in response to a security breach includes a flash at a relatively high intensity, some number of times brighter than normal illumination for the space. Some exemplary routines include a warning light and/or a pre-flash light emission such as dim lighting or a flicker, to effectively prepare the person in the space for maximum effectiveness of the flash. Exemplary routines may also include a post-flash sequence of multiple color light emissions, such as alternating emissions in sequence of pulses of different colors of light using emission and/or off time parameters that vary in an irregular manner.

ENCODING METHOD, AND DECODING METHOD

Pub Date: 2013-11-07

Pub Number: US20130297993

An encoding method generates an encoded sequence by performing encoding of a given coding rate according to a predetermined parity check matrix. The predetermined parity check matrix is a first parity check matrix or a second parity check matrix. The first parity check matrix corresponds to a low-density parity check (LDPC) convolutional code using a plurality of parity check polynomials. The second parity check matrix is generated by performing at least one of row permutation and column permutation with respect to the first parity check matrix. An eth parity check polynomial that satisfies zero, of the LDPC convolutional code, is expressible by using a predetermined mathematical formula.
